My Marshalls National Commercial

So here's my Marshalls National Commercial. It's been airing a lot along with my IBM one so I am definitely very happy with at least these two. I really do need to get more bookings, but auditions are extremely slow these days. But hey I get to keep myself busy with my music which I have been neglecting a lot. It's all good!

About half of my music is finished, and I have half more to go this week. It's really coming along. I should have one more done tomorrow and should have one more started too. I will have everything done before I head out of town next Friday.

So far I have the following:

Nine Tones - Rearranged for Flute/Dizi, Clarinet, Erhu, Violin and Cello
The Death and Resurrection of Elpis Lana - Rearranged for Erhu, Cello and Piano

I am planning on doing the following:

Fantasy of a Flying Hen - Rearranged for Dizi, Erhu, Cello and Piano
A full ensemble piece
A percussion and piano piece
A piece for Bawu/Hulu, Cello and Piano

I really do think this is going to be a very nice concert. Really looking forward to it!

My BlueAnt V1

I've been using my V1 for a few weeks now. I bought it since I booked my commercials. I figured I should get a good solid headset for my phone since I'm on the road a lot and need to answer the phone when I'm out auditioning and stuff. Also it's just great to use at home anyways.

I do like this headset a lot, but it's a bit buggy. I had some issues with the phone's voice commands. It doesn't always pick it up correctly and it doesn't quite work the way it's supposed to. But it connects very well, that's the one good thing about it. It is very clear and it's very easy to use. Well that is the most important thing about a bluetooth headset. I just need it to connect well with my phone and work. So despite the voice control issues, I am still happy with it.

The batteries don't last that long, not quite 5 hours of talk time, but close enough I guess. It also is a bit hard to be aware of when the batteries are low. But that's probably because sometimes I'm on the phone for a very long time, so it's probably me that's making it hard to figure out.

It's a good headset. I may just need to reconfigure it to make the voice stuff work properly again. But I didn't expect voice command to be perfect anyways to begin with. Voice technology is still iffy I think, so as long as connection is good and solid, I'm happy.

RJMission.org

I set up a website for my parents' missionary work yesterday. It was actually my parents' lunar calendar birthday the last two days. Yes, their birthdays are 1 day apart in the lunar calendar as well as our regular calendar. While we were eating, we started talking about blogging and that my parents should blog about their missionary works. Which then inevitably led to me making a website for them.

Well at first I set up a blogger account. But it just kept messing up. There were just too many bugs in it, and I just hate explorer. I'm glad I never use it, but I still need to be aware of it I guess. I hate it. Finally Tim convinced me to use wordpress instead. I found a great template for them and finished setting everything. I am actually quite proud of this one, it turned out very well. It took me a couple hours to get it up and running, though I wasted about half a day toying with blogger and blogger templates.

RJMission.org

Should be a good site, with lots of good story.

My IBM National Spot

So here's my IBM National spot!!! Smarter Healthcare. It's actually for both Computer industry as well as the Healthcare industry so it's like a double commercial! It's really cool and I'm very happy. I didn't get cut out, though there's only 2 seconds left of me. I still have my line and my face is still seen so I'm happy and excited about it all!

I'm still...

...working on getting a copy of my Marshalls spot. I can't say when I'll be able to get it, but I sure hope soon. I am just psyched about this spot airing and that I could actually make some money this year! Looking forward to my paychecks!!!

Watching Dead Like Me

For the last couple of days, I've been watching both seasons of Dead Like Me on Netflix (I'm so happy that Netflix now has unlimited online streaming. I pretty much just watch everything online these days. I'm even too lazy to pop a DVD into my computer to play that. I haven't gotten a new DVD for a long time.) Despite the fact that a few episodes were missing from the instant watch on Netflix (which I'm guessing they want me to actually rent the DVD which would make them a little more money perhaps), I really thoroughly enjoyed the series and wished they didn't cancel the third season.

I remember seeing the ads for this show back when it first came out, but being that I didn't have showtime, I never watched it. And if it's not for Netflix, I probably would never have gotten the chance to see it. It's the same deal with Weeds. I only watched it because of Netflix.

At first I found Ellen Muth a bit too stale and bitterly annoying, but she just grew on me. I just gotten more and more into her character and everyone that revolved around her. At first I was expecting something interesting to happen, with her maybe toying with death, but that soon dissipated into nothing. It wasn't about that, but just about that human to human experience, and what it really means to be living. It really doesn't do a whole lot, but it says a lot and it's just mesmerizing in the way it presents material.

I am really learning a lot about character presentation and development watching shows like these, especially it's so far from the feel and look of prime time network TV shows. They are really a totally different breed and it's just thoroughly fun and engaging. I really want to be on a show like this.

Anyways, I did finish all the episodes on Netflix, so now I have to find another show to watch. Any suggestions? I am digging through everything in the Netflix streaming archive!

Watching Legend of The Seeker

I've been a bit caught up by this new series "Legend of the Seeker" the last two weeks. I was just browsing Hulu.com and I just stumbled across this fantasy action adventure, and I just can't pass it up.

When I first started watching I was very annoyed by the bad acting and bad writing. But something about it kept me watching. I just couldn't help myself. I kept watching and watching and pretty soon I realized the acting really gotten a lot better and so has the writing. Of course it's by no means amazing, but it's sure a lot more watchable then before.

The thing was really that the series is a fantasy epic that you really don't find a lot of these days. So I was definitely intrigued by it. You know it's addictive to you when you sat down and watch all 16 episodes in a couple days. But then that's me anyways, I watch TV in bulk online. It's insanity. I'm always looking for more things to watch online. I watch it through Netflix and hulu and all those other sites. I can't even stand popping a DVD into my computer player. I just like clicking and getting my shows.

I am learning an enormous amount of stuff from watching all this TV. It's one of those things where if you just do a little or do some of, you don't really learn acting. But when you watch hours upon hours upon hours of TV a day...

...you really grow tremendously as an actor, so I think.

The show stars Craig Horner, Bridget Regan and Bruce Spence with Craig Parker. The story is based on the book The Sword of Truth. I have no idea how true to the book it is since I've never read it. It's just a fun show to enjoy with somethings to snack on. Yeah I eat a lot. I tend to keep snacking and eating. But I am working out lately so it's good.

Well if you like a fantasy, check it out. It's fun. I do suggest to not expect anything mind blowing, but rather just a fun little ride to enjoy with a little fantasy to indulge yourself in.
