Booked a National Commercial

I got the call about booking a national commercial today!!!!! I am very very very very psyched!

It's going to be a memorable one, at least for me. I'm not going to give out any of the details. I'll be shooting in the next couple days. I am keeping my fingers crossed about this and hope all goes well. I hope I don't get cut. I hope it gets out and seen! Woohoo!!!!!!

Things are going great this week for me!

Ocean of Thoughts - Album Progress II

I know it's been a very very long time since I have blogged here, but I have been extremely busy.

For a good reason. My CD Ocean of Thoughts is now on its way to CDbaby and then to iTunes and everything else. It is also being printed by Discmakers right now too as I blog. Well not at this very moment. I'm waiting on one final ingredient. I'm waiting on my audio engineer Brian to send the final master copy to Discmaker.

The album looks fantastic. I am so psyched. I am absolutely thrilled about this album. The only thing I need to still do is to design the book, which will be done in the next two days. Then I will be able to get it up to lulu.com and then have that available there!

Everything is going well, now onto the next album - Blue.

Riceball Dessert

My family decided to make our own riceball dessert this year for Chinese Valentine day. We've never done this for this day before, but apparently we are this year.

It was definitely interesting to make, using sweet rice flour and water to make the dough. The inside is filled with canned red bean paste. It was a bit fun to make cause we just kept making some really messed up ones.

Supposedly after Chinese Valentine day, that's when we are officially another year older. What a way to celebrate love right? In the Chinese tradition, age is determined by the first day of the year you are born. Everyone gains another day on this day no matter which day your birthday is. It's kinda sad for those who are born right on this day versus those who were born a day before. Cause they'd technically be a year younger even though they are only 1 day apart. But that's the traditional way.

There are other times when people eat these rice balls as a tradition. The main one is for weddings. Couples eat these to symbolize completion because they are sphere shaped. So everything is complete. It's cool I think, a nice little tradition. There are though way too many traditions in the Chinese culture for sure.

My New Blackberry Bold

Ok, so here's a little post about my new blackberry bold.

No I didn't write this post using my blackberry, though I could use blogger mobile to do that. I just didn't want to type up a whole freaken post on my BB when I can use my computer. It's just a total waste of time. Even though I can type very fast on the bold, it's still not a computer keyboard.

I do love my bold, and I've been playing with it a lot. There's of course pros and cons of it.

This isn't really a total review, it's just some of things that I think after using it for a bit.

The pros are of course it looks fantastic. I just love how it looks and feel. I love the leather back. I love the really really bright screen. Of course it's not a touch screen, but that's the trade off with the keyboard. I tried the iphone keyboard and it's just not good. It's really hard to type and stuff on that. Though of course the good is that you get a bigger screen. But I think this screen is big enough for what I need.

I love the fact that the bold is push email, so I get a near real time notification of all my emails. That will come in really handy when I get auditions and such while I'm out. It works very well and gives it to me with multiple email address. So I can really email people back on a very very timely manner. In fact I just did that earlier today about a concert reminder by the host today. It was nice to be able to communicate using all three of my main accounts. I have others on top of those, but I only added those three to my BB. The others don't need adding.

I love my unlimited text so now I text like crazy.

I love the GPS on it. Google maps has a really cool function that lets your friends know where you are using a latitude program. Neato...except if someone you once were friends with decides to spy on you.

It also has MMS which is a big plus for me! Iphone doesn't apparently from what I heard.

I am sure there are lots of other pros on the technical side that I like but don't even realize them.

The Cons.

There are definitely some major cons.

First is that they still don't have a reliable program to sync my mac with my bold. So now I have to work around it by using google sync to get my contacts synced and my calendar synced. I haven't gotten my itunes synced, I'm waiting on my micro SD card to arrive and then I will probably buy the missing sync program. The pocketmac program that came with the blackberry was completely unworkable. From what I read about the missing sync program, they have severe issues with the contacts syncing. So I will refrain from using that. I will only use google contact sync for now then.

The other con is the lack of free applications. There are so many for the iphone but so few for the bold. Granted the bold is a relatively new phone, but I wonder if they will really come up with a lot of great programs or will it just die off like a lot of phones. That's the sad thing. iphone's been around for a while and from generation to generation they can pass down programs. Bold doesn't seem to be doing that. Probably because blackberry makes so many different phones with different size screens which doesn't help third party developers developing programs and giving them out free. But then i guess there are a lot of paid programs too for iphone. I just wished I could find a few more free themes and a few more free programs. I did find a couple really nice ones so it's not a total loss. They do work well and I do like them.

I did have a random shutdown once which was annoying. Also SMS text had an issue once. Just little things like that.

It's a tradeoff, but it's all good. I am very very happy with my bold and I think I made the better choice for me. It's about business, not about entertainment. I need the push email function which is a big big plus. As long as I can work around the sync issue I am still ok.

Just thrilled about my BB Bold!!!!!!

I'm not in Kansas anymore

Kansas,
Off my radar,
Off my sight line,
Off,
Population unknown to me,
Life transpires without me,
A Name,

Frances,
Another name,
Another word,
Another
Person once known to me,
Lives a life without me,
A Person,

Meanings in the meaningless,
Humanity's projection of a worthiness,
What is the purpose,
Purposes,
Life continues to beckon,
Yet unwilling to satisfy,

We crave,
We seek,
A cosmic joke,
A futile effort,
Just a thought,
Just a name,
Just,

Throw it out the window,
Toss it aside,
Would it matter,
Maybe yes,
Maybe no,
Does that matter,
Perhaps,
With no real purpose,
With nothing concrete,
Concrete as Kansas,
Concrete as Frances,

I am in Kansas,
Walking down the yellow brick road,
Hoping to see the wizard,
Holding on a thought,
What lies at the end of the path,
Is but Kansas,
We've grown,
Yet yield no fruit,
Just a thought,
Just a dream,
Just.

Food, I Love Food!!!

I love food, really do. I have been eating out a lot lately with my family because of Chinese New Years and boy are those meal great.

Last last Saturday we had the New Years Eve dinner (though one day early). We actually had that at home and we ate a ton of amazing foods. We ate crab and fish and shrimp. We also had this 4 treasures dish that consisted of 4 things that were once considered treasures from 4 different cities. Interesting history in the dish.

Then on Sunday we had a really great potluck at Church where we ate some good veggie type dish that my Dad made along with other dishes other made. My Dad makes this really awesome veggie (though with meat in there - but mainly about the veggies) dish that was really popular.

Then Monday we had Dim Sum with my grandparents and my aunt and uncle and of course my parents. Dim Sum is always fantastic. I love it. We had a ton of very good dishes as usual. Tripe and chicken feet and veggie rolls, buns, seaweeds, jelly fish and a bunch more.

Monday night my family invited another family over for dinner. It was a really full dinner with lots of dishes included eggs and shrimp. But the most amazing dish that night was the soup. It was a fish belly soup. That pot was probably worth a few hundred dollars US. The other family used way too much of the fish belly cause she didn't know she was using too many. It was really an intense soup and I loved it. Absolutely fantastic.

Then last Saturday we had another family dinner at a seafood restaurant. We had Lobster, Quail, Peking Duck, Shrimp and Egg again (my brother loves that dish) and one of my favorite soup, crab meat with fish belly. This fish belly was lighter and of course not as expensive as the one we had at home. But it is still one of my favorite. That was a great dinner.

Then tonight I treated my family to Japanese food. We had sushi and sashimi and a nice New York steak that was really good. I am still eating a couple pieces of the left overs right now...Yum.

I just love love love food!!!
