Wine Tasting @ Solvang

I went to my agent's birthday wine tasting event out at Solvang on Saturday. It was really a great experience. I learned a bit more about wines so I won't look totally ignorant in the future when I talk to people about it.

The first winery we went to was rather special too since we were able to taste wines that are unfiltered. We tasted 2 whites from those giant tin tanks and 2 reds straight from the barrels. It really was a really neat experience and I have my agent to thanks. Rod is just so awesome.

I skipped out on the wine stuff at Solvang which was our second stop cause I definitely needed to get some lunch. I don't drink much so I didn't want to end up starving and drinking. That would not be pretty. I had a little lunch at a little restaurant there. It was alright. Nothing that special. I had some sirloin steak. Tasty but forgettable.

Then we went to Bridlewood Winery and tasted a few more there. It was definitely not as special as the one before, and I prefer sweeter wines anyways. Though I know there are people who prefer these. But a few of my friends also didn't care about some of the stuff they drank here. It's fascinating how different people prefer these tiny differences.

Finally we went to Chumash casino. I don't gamble and there really wasn't much to do there. I hung out with a few friends at the bar which was the only place to get any drinks at the casino. Apparently it was an 18+ casino so they couldn't serve any alcohol to anyone at the tables. They could only serve it in the restaurant and only as a part of the meal. So everyone who wanted a drink had to get food with it. It was really interesting actually. Well I didn't get any alcohol drinks, I really don't drink all that much. I got a lemonade and then a Pepsi later. I needed some caffine, but they didn't have Coke. I much prefer Coke over Pepsi. I just don't like the taste of Pepsi, but I had no other choice and was stuck there for a while. Oh well.

I also did have crab cake and clam steamers and fries. Boy were their fries good. I ate a ton of fries there. After that I just chatted. At one point I was down at the gift shop checking it out. It was really a small shop, but they did have a very cool music note clock which I almost wanted, but since it wasn't a piano, I didn't get it.

Anyways, I got home at like near midnight. I was definitely very tire at the end of the day, but it was all good fun. I made some new friends and such.

One little thing was this really rude girl I was talking to. She was a bit buzzed. She was totally rude. I met her a little earlier with her two other friends. She complained about how people in LA aren't all that friendly and that she hasn't made a lot of friends out here in LA. I was just casually chatting with her and her friends. Well at the lounge, I ended up sitting next to her for a moment. I was just trying to make small talks, friendly talks. At one point she asked me if I was in anything that she may have recognized, and then I said maybe Scrubs and Knight Rider. Then suddenly she just turned her back to me completely and started talking to her friend and completely shutting me out. I was like that was the rudest thing anyone have done to me for a while. This coming from someone who complained that people at LA aren't friendly and she's not making any friends. I'm like no wonder you're not making any friends. Here I'm just being friendly and you turn around and just shut me out. Now that's not cool.

Anyways, that's my rant of the day. Other then that, I have met some new people, make a few new friends. But I really don't really like these big long social events. I do better at shorter events. I get rather tired at these things. I like quieter events I think, though I guess unless if they are all really close friends. I can do those 4 hours parties really well. Get in, with that whole I'm ready to socialize, and then network like crazy. But here, I'm just like eh! I still had a good time overall and enjoyed the event tremendously. My agent really gets amazing deals.
